Project Partnerships Build Success!
Sandhills Journey Scenic Byway
Sandhills Journey Scenic Byway (SJSB) organization includes communities from Alliance to Grand Island, with a membership of approximately 175 members. The Sandhills RC&D provides technical support to the Byway organization in the form of marketing and grant administration as well as use of office space.
Nebraska Grazing Lands Coalition
Dedicated to the enhancement of grasslands, the Nebraska Grazing Lands Coalition (NGLC) is comprised of ranchers and private landowners all focused on creating public awareness and improvement of the grazing lands in Nebraska. Funding for the programs come through a variety of sources including grants through the Nebraska Environmental Trust, a cooperative agreement with NRCS and recently a partnership with the University of Wyoming. Payments, budgeting, and grant administration for the various NGLC projects is conducted at the Sandhills RC&D office. The roughly $125,000 annual budget provides for state-wide rangeland programs.
Nebraska Environmental Trust
The Nebraska Environmental Trust was established in 1992 to conserve, enhance and restore the natural environments of Nebraska. It was created on the conviction that a prosperous future is dependent upon a sound natural environment and that Nebraskans could collectively achieve real progress on real environmental issues if seed money were provided. The Trust is to complement existing activities, stimulate private investment and emphasize long term gain. The Trust is to lead in the development of a vision of Nebraska's future environment. The Trust is to collaborate with public and private efforts to achieve that vision.
Annual grants are funded through the proceeds of the Nebraska Lottery, meaning that people who enjoy the fun and excitement of the Lottery also know they are helping keep the state's land, air and water clean for future generations. The Nebraska Environmental Trust receives 44.5% of the profits of the Nebraska Lottery.
Hooker County Tourism
Mullen is the biggest little town in Hooker County. Here you will find all kinds of things to see and do, as well as shopping and businesses that make our town thrive. Stay the afternoon, a day or a week - once you visit Mullen you will keep coming back for more of the great hospitality that only a small town can offer.
